CHECK OUT THE VIDEO BAR

LOOK AT THIS!  HE'S AMAZING.
There are certain families who do specific weaves.  Though he's young, he has obviously been doing this for a while.  He moves with such speed and skill.

When I weave, I do at least as much UNweaving as I do weaving.  I find this so fascinating.

What this loom is made from and how he's using his feet is so wonderful.  We don't have to spend $1 - 2 thousand dollars on a loom just to weave.  I love this!

I LOVE MY LOOM ! ! !

It's a 22" workshop model 4 harness NORWOOD.  I made this pattern in a variety of wools and cottons.

I'm still testing it out to see what I can do with it.  Next, I'm going to try SAORI on it.  I know it's typically done on a 2 harness or rigid heddle loom, but I'm going to play with it anyway.  I have warp left from this piece.

I Love Fiber Arts! - Haitian inspired Chakra symbol

Here is something I did after I came back from Haiti for the second time.

I was inspired by the Voudon bottles that I saw.  They were covered with sequins and beads hand sewn by artisans devoted to the spiritual practice.  This is the Sanskrit symbol for the throat chakra.  Reminding me to be mindful of my words and the sounds that I put into the universe.  This is my second piece on this chakra.  The first was sold by, the Himilayan Bookstore owner, to a tourist couple from the midwest.  It was only supposed to be a display piece, but . . . alas.  It was in a quilt setting.  It was a beautiful African print on cotton fabric in a log cabin pattern.  Maybe one day I will make another one.  But, for now, I have my Haitian inspired Chakra symbol on my wall.

Make your own loom

I made a loom, using a wooden picture frame.  I hammered small nails along the top and bottom front surface areas on the frame.  Voila! instant loom.  Here's what I made with it:

I wove two panels and sewed them together.  Then I cut a chenille scarf in strips and braided it to make the shoulder strap.

Modern Boho:

There's a senior center in my area.  They just launched their flea market. I'm going over there to donate this to their fundraising effort.

In case you're interested, they are at the Chavez Senior Residence in Brooklyn; on Sterling and Kingston (right across from Jenny's Coffee Shop).  Here are some other things I'm taking over there.

You should stop on by and buy!
