I was inspired by the Voudon bottles that I saw. They were covered with sequins and beads hand sewn by artisans devoted to the spiritual practice. This is the Sanskrit symbol for the throat chakra. Reminding me to be mindful of my words and the sounds that I put into the universe. This is my second piece on this chakra. The first was sold by, the Himilayan Bookstore owner, to a tourist couple from the midwest. It was only supposed to be a display piece, but . . . alas. It was in a quilt setting. It was a beautiful African print on cotton fabric in a log cabin pattern. Maybe one day I will make another one. But, for now, I have my Haitian inspired Chakra symbol on my wall.
